Signs

  • A white screen or critical error message
  • Layouts broken or styles missing
  • Features like checkout, booking or forms stopped working

Usual causes

  • A plugin or app update clashes with another plugin or your theme
  • The update needs a newer PHP version than your hosting runs
  • Custom code was overwritten by the update

What you can check yourself

  1. Do not keep clicking update on everything else.
  2. Write down exactly what you updated and when.
  3. Check if your host offers a one-click restore from a backup made before the update.

When to get help

If you have a recent backup, restoring it can be the quickest fix, but you may lose recent orders or content. Get help if you are not sure.
